I think I have to disagree with Tom on this one.

The only way to learn about a country is to visit it and see it for yourself and besides, the amount of tourists that visit DRPK every year does not contribute to the regimen in a significant way to decide to ban it altogether, in fact, I believe that the more people visiting the country the more open it will get. It's not only us who have to realize that this country and its people are not as bad and evil as we think they are, they also need to regain their trust in the outside world.

It fascinates me how people give so much credit to biased information about a country without investing some time and effort to learn more about it. It's obvious that the regimen in this country is not all good, but it's not all bad and evil either like the media tries to convince us in every information they produce. After being there I can assure you that I've seen countries with a far lower standard of living than what I've seen in DRPK and if I had to choose a country to have been born in, North Korea would not be the last on my list.

Fascinating and really great photos....but NK is the one place in the world I disagree with ALL tourism for. It's simply lining the pockets of an evil, evil regime that starves its people to death and gives international aid to the military. I wish people would satisfy their curiosity online, as people only ever write the same things about the country over and over again due to the government's restrictions on independent tourists.
